Berg
is the oldest vacation village in the upper Drau valley and is 692m above sea level and has 1440 inhabitants.
Location:
It is located south of the alps' main crest. It is enclosed by the Kreuzeck group in the north
and the Gailtaler Chalkalps in the south.

The north side:
On the sunny side north of the river Drau there are mainly high mountain regions, smooth hills
and grassy mica shist areas.
On the slopes (800-1500m above sea level) and in the valley (600-700m above sea level) there are vast meadows and forests with spruces and larches.
With 2784m above sea level the Polinik is the highest mountain of the Kreuzeck group.

The south side:
In contrast to the North in the South of the river Drau there are steep rucked chalkwalls and sheer slopes with dense conifer forests.

Climate:
Due to the mild mediterranean influence by air streams from the south and shielding by the Hohe Tauern against the effect of bad
weather from the north the upper Drau valley has a very mild climate.
